Jameson Williams Comments On His NFL Debut

Detroit Lions prized rookie wide receiver Jameson Williams made his NFL debut on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Williams didn’t see much action and only played a small number of snaps. On Thursday Williams spoke to reporters about his debut saying it was “pretty emotional”.

“As bad as I wanted to do more, I feel like it wasn’t about that. It was more of getting my feet under me and making sure everything was good.”

Why it matters: The long-awaited activation of Jameson Williams had both the media and fans alike tuning in to see what he could bring to the Lions’ offense. Many were disappointed to see him receive minimal time on the field. But Williams thinks it was more about getting acclimated.

  • On Sunday, Williams was targeted only once, by Jared Goff and he missed the catch.
  • Williams was on the field for only eight snaps.
  • With the Detroit Lions beating the Jaguars 40-14, there was really no need to push Williams into heavy snaps.

Jameson Williams: The Big Picture

While Williams’ debut may have been nominal as far as explosive performance goes but ultimately there was no need to put pressure on him. The Detroit Lions have come a far way this season sitting now at 5-7 and look to take on the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday at Ford Field. Dan Campbell has said that he plans to have Williams more involved going forward. With Jameson Williams’ feet wet on the field, we should expect to see some more dynamic plays soon.

What The Fans Are Saying

It seems the fans think Jamo was used correctly but are waiting to see what else he has in him.
